I. Main Performance Index and Technical Specifications:

II. Application
This machine is complete with kinds of loading equipments and accessories. It is special for Marshall test. It can also meet the requirements for the compression strength test and the modulus and splitting strength test of the pavement materials (bitumen mixture, cement lime and so on). It can also meet the development requirements of the dynamic tests for the pavement materials.
This machine has the functions such as digital display test result, automatic caculation, data display, to print the test results and the drawing, automatic locking the loading peak value and so on. It has the features such as reliable data, swift and convenient.
III. Main principle and functions:
1. Loading equipments include the motor, the transmission, the loading system, the special break head for Marshall test, control circult and so on. They have the features as per stable loading lift speed and so on.
2. This machine includes the force sensor, the electric displacement meter, the stagger amplifier, the single-chip, the control system of the printer and so on. It can quickly collect the datas of “P”, “Y” and enlarge the sihnals through the stagger amplifier. The special software carries on the processing and caculation of the datas. The digital indicator displays the last result after caculation. It can also print the result and drawing at the same time, so the test result is direct to see.
You can select the sampling paces on the faceplate to meet the sampling speeds for different materials. It also has the peak value maintenance function. It can automatically lock the peak value when the specimen in the larggest broken value and print the data. The machine has the function to delete the initial pressure value (P) and displacement value (Y). It means that the displacement variables enter into the data collection system only under the condition of with pressure. The machine has memory function for set. For example, if you set the pace as per 1.00KN when the automatic peak value AAAA (P1=20.00KN), restart the machine after close it, the machine can work according to the settlement as last time.
IV. General Instruction of Measuring Apparatus:
1. Install the plugs of the displacement sensors Y1, Y2 and he pressure sensor P (which are in the back plate).
2. Connect the electricity wire and the socket. It should have good earth connection (also in the back plate).
3. Open the switch of the electricity power. There are numbers displaying in the indication window and the power light of the printer turn red. The range of P under the working situation is 20.00KN. The content of the indication windows P and Y is not fixed.
4. Calibrate before doing test. Press the “replacement” key and then press the “clear” key. All of the indication windows display “Zero”. Add some pressure to push the displacement sensors Y1 and Y2, Y indication turn to numbers. Try that to P. If P has the relative change, the measuring apparatus can work well.
5. Instruction of the function keys:
1) Replacement: Press this key to initialize the special programme in the machine before doing test.
2) Clear: Press this key once, the indication windows will display “Zero”. The test start after clearance.
3) Auto: Press this key once, the indication window P will display “AAAA”. The measuring apparatus has the functions such as peak value maintenance and print at this time. Press this key again, the indication window P will display “DLA”. It is without peak value maintenance and print function at this time. It can use to do repeat loading-unloading test on P and use when calibrate P.
4) P selection: It can select the measuring range of P. It can choose 20.00Kn or 100.00KN displaying in the indication window P.
5) Pace: Set the pace to change the numbers of the collection data to make the data reasonable. Generally, the test data should be between 7 and 10 groups. The sampling paces are 1KN and 0.5KN when P is 20.00KN. The sampling paces are 10.0KN and 5KN when P is 100.00KN. It can freely set according to the situation when doing test. The measuring range is 20.00KN under the working situation and the pace is 1KN.
6) Re-print: Press this key once, the printer will repeat to print the data once again.
7) A: Press this key, the indication window P will display “00” and without print function at this time. Press this key again, it will display “11” and have automatic print function.
V. Operation Method
Connect the electricity wire and the socket. It should have good earth connection. Open the switch of the electricity power. Open the power switch of the printer at the same time, the power light will trun red and automatically input the paper. The apparatus and loading equipments enter into test situation at this time. The measuring apparatus indicates that there’s null voltage. P is about 6.00-20.00 (measuring range as per 20.00KN) and Y is about 5.00-14.00mm.
1. Clear the skin needling on the specimen and install the specimen in the special breaking head. There should be 3-5mm space between the up and the down breaking heads.
2. Press “replacement” key (in the front faceplate) and press “clear” to clear into zero. Both the indication window P and Y are “00.00”. Attention: Press the “clear” key and lease till the indication windows display zero.
3. Adjust the adjusting screw rod of the electric displacement meter Y1 and Y2 of the down breaking head to make both the Y1 and Y2 display 0.5mm (total value above 1mm is also ok).
4. Select the sampling pace (or not is ok). Start the machine under the measruing range of 20.00KN and pace of 1KN.
5. Press “clear” key before doing test to make the indication window display “00.00”. If not press “clear” key again.
6. Press “down” key of the loading equipments to make the up and the down breaking heads break away from the specimen. Put away the specimen (taken out from the constant temperature water bath).
7. Press “up” key and stop the machine when the value in the indication window P doesn’t enlarge any longer. Carry on the automatic print data processing to finish the complet test procedure.
8. Press “re-print” key to print the test result again.
9. The machine is complete with P: 50KN, Y1: 10mm, Y2: 10mm, and 24 pin printer.
10. Turn on the power switch of the machine first and the power light of the printer is not bright. Then turn on the power switch of the printer (in the back faceplate) and the power light of the print turn red and the print will automatically input the paper. Start test at this time.
VI. Experiment Steps for Marshall Test:
1. Operation:
Put the marshall specimen without immersion into the breaking heads. Start the machine to make the specimen suitable for the up and the down breaking heads. Adjust Y1 and Y2 into 0.5mm (total above 1mm). Press “down” key to make the down breaking head and Y gauge leave away 3-5mm. Take out the marshall specimen from the breaking heads.

IX. Attention:
1. Make the sensors P and Y out of load to protect the sensor after finish the test.
Take out the printer to load the printing paper if the paper is out when carry on printing in the test.
2. Prohibit taking down the spare parts of the machine (especially the petentiometers). Or use it after clabration again.
X. Calibration and Debugging Method:
There are 2 units of adjustable petentiometers in the back faceplate. Faced to the faceplate, the left is 20KN and the right is 100KN. Adjust the two petentiometers when calibrating.
